On December 27, 2010, a project namedSurvey of High Intensity Sweeteners (HIS) in Asia Pacificwas started by CCM. Asia Pacific region is one of the most important HIS suppliers, playing a significant role in global market, thus, CCM will deeply disclose the market dynamic. According to the project's proposal, the project will be finished in the late of January, 2011, and also be integrated into CCM's new data system-ValoTracer.

High Intensity Sweeteners (HIS), has been popular sinceproduction cost decreased in recent years, and sucrose is gradually substituted by HIS in the production of end-use products, for instance, aspartame and sucraloseare widely applied in food & beverage industry. Especially, stevioside as nature-sweetener, is regarded as one of the safest sugar-substitute, andhas been rapidly promoted worldwide. In 2009, the approval of rebaudioside A (Reb A) by The French Food Safety Authority (AFFSA) was deemed as the opportunity to explore the whole European market.

The project is based on previous research of HIS in China which was made by CCM in 2008, extending study to Asia Pacific with similar depth, but in a more concise and systematic manner.

In this project, CCM will highlight the key factors and driven forces, such as policies, sucrose and starch sugar production situation, trade barriers etc. Besides, 9 kinds of HIS product like saccharin, stevioside, sucralose, aspartame, neotame, etc. will be covered, and their market size / output share by country/region will be analyzed, as well as new HIS product research situation will be involved in the project.

The survey will penetrate into HIS situation of 4 key manufacturing regions, including China, India, Japan and Indonesia. In this part, CCM will do analysis on six aspects for each region:brief introduction, policies and key factors, production and producers, demand and end-use segments, trade situation, forecast on demand of HIS. Production and producer sector will include the data on producers' basic information, products' capacity and output volume, prices of HIS, in 2009-2010; End-use segments will cover the aspects of market size, market value, consumption volume.Apart from the regions above, South Korea, Taiwan, and Malaysiawill also be mentioned. In addition, comparison among major countries can be found in overview of Asia Pacific.

The project is estimated to helpful to get better understanding about 4 major manufacturing regions' situation, and the risks and opportunities for investment and business explosion.
